Quality Control, a Theme for tracking tickets

Spencer Finnell has developed a very slick WordPress theme for creating and keeping track of (bug) tickets.

This WordPress theme was designed to allow the creation, and tracking, of tickets. It was kept simple, and packaged lightly, allowing the user to use it however he/she wants. Just the essentials have been added, and the rest is up to you.

Please note, that since this is the initial release, it’s sure to be riddled with bugs, and lack some functionality. There are also some design elements I’m not satisfied with, and the CSS could use with a bit of a clean up.

WordPress Mass Management Tools

WordPress Mass Management Tools lets you update WordPress the easiest way possible via SVN:

Yes, users can often self-install via Fantastico or similar programs, but what guarantee do you have that they’ll upgrade as soon as new releases become available? Letting users run old versions of web software is a great way to get hacked. This kit lets you take control of users’ installations by checking them out via svn and upgrading them en masse.

Evolution of WordPress

Walking us through the evolution..

Kicking things off, let’s take a look at the first version(s) 1.0 of WordPress. As I’ve always said and stood behind, I think of WordPress as one of the most SEO sound platforms. Even back in January 3, 2004 when this version was released, you could alter the permalinks to be more SEO friendly. Thought that was worth noting. Also, as you can see, there’s the only the option to create posts.

WordPress Updates: FTP Information in wp-config.php

Since the addition of the automatic updates in the WordPress core became available, there has been the possibility of FTP data in the backend. Then you can get both plugins and the core by clicking on the date. However WordPress then stores the login information in the blog database. This can be a potential security issue. If someone were to gain access to your database then they would also have access to your entire server.
